As an accomplished pianist and sultry vocalist, she has performed at countless special events, fundraising benefits, elegant house parties, exclusive restaurants and nightclubs throughout Toronto and the GTA. Kathryn is able to enhance your event with subtle background piano solos or fully orchestrated, up-tempo dance tunes. Raised in an entertainment family, Kathryn began performing professionally during her childhood. Part of the family legacy includes her father Bob McNea running away with the circus as a young teenager in the 40’s where he learned vaudeville style slap-stick comedy through clowning. He eventually became a TV celebrity, entertaining children as Bozo the Clown in a daily series broadcast to audiences throughout Southwestern Ontario, Michigan, Ohio and Upstate New York. In the late 60’s, Kathryn’s parents developed and produced their own children’s television shows known as “The Oopsy the Clown Show” and “Big Top Talent”, which were viewed by generations of children over a span of 30 years. Show business life in the McNea household included the whole family, taking them to entertainment venues all over the northeastern United States and Canada. In spite of a chaotic childhood, which combined show business with education, at the age of nine Kathryn was able to begin what would encompass over a decade of classical piano training. As a young adult, she became musical director of the television shows, writing children’s songs and performing on air. "The Oopsy the Clown Show" went on to win several high profile broadcast awards as best children’s television show during the 80’s and 90’s. Kathryn also performed in many of the finest piano bars, upscale hotel lounges and restaurants in Toronto’s Yorkville district, fast becoming a top ranked solo musician on the circuit. She fronted the CNE lottery stage singing Dixie land jazz for several years in a row, as well as opened for big-name acts such as the Nylons during one of their special engagements. Kathryn continues to perform regularly as well as compose songs, write lyrics and record CD’s, sound tracks and voice over’s for radio and television. Her future performance goals include international engagements where she will utilize her distinctive vocal sound and vivacious personality as a winning combination to easily satisfy any discerning audience.
